Open'er Festival Gdynia 2026

Open’er Festival is Poland’s largest international music festival and one of the most attended in Central Europe. Held each year at the beginning of July at Gdynia’s Kosakowo Airport — a decommissioned military airfield that provides a vast open space for multiple stages — it draws headline acts from across rock, pop, electronic, and hip-hop alongside Polish artists with strong followings at home. The festival has been running since 2002 and has hosted acts including Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, Florence and the Machine, and many others.

The Festival Site

The airport site gives Open’er an unusually spacious layout compared to most European festivals. Four or five stages operate simultaneously across the grounds, ranging from the main stage capable of holding tens of thousands to smaller tented stages for electronic music and emerging artists. The site also contains an extensive food and drink area, art installations, and a camping zone for those staying on-site across the four days.

Tickets and Camping

Four-day festival passes are the most common ticket type and go on sale via the festival website (opener.pl) in autumn or winter ahead of the event. Day tickets are sometimes available but the festival is primarily designed as a multi-day experience. Camping is available on-site at an additional cost; there are also hotels and apartments in nearby Gdynia and Gdansk (around 20-30 minutes away) for those who prefer to commute to the site each day.

Ticket prices for four-day passes have historically ranged from approximately 700 to 950 PLN, depending on when you buy (early-bird pricing is significantly cheaper). Check opener.pl for 2026 pricing and availability.

Getting There

Gdynia is part of the Trojmiasto (Tri-City) metropolitan area alongside Gdansk and Sopot, linked by the SKM rapid transit rail network. The festival site at Kosakowo is served by shuttle buses from Gdynia Glowna station during the festival days. Shuttles run frequently throughout the day and into the early hours of the morning after the last acts finish.

From Warsaw, Gdansk is reachable by train in around 3 hours by PKP Intercity; from Gdansk, the SKM to Gdynia takes about 25 minutes. Flying into Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport is also an option for those coming from outside Poland.

Practical Tips

July at the coast is warm but unpredictable — temperatures can reach 27°C on sunny days but sea breezes and occasional Baltic rain are common. Pack sunscreen, a rain poncho, and comfortable footwear for standing on grass and gravel. The festival is well run with clear signage, good food options, and medical facilities on site.
